High-performance EVM blockchain Monad announced that its public testnet will be launched on February 19th, which is an important milestone in the project's development. The testnet, developed over two years, aims to provide developers and users with an experimental platform to test the platform's functionality until the mainnet is launched.

The launch of this public testnet follows the closed testnet at the end of 2024. The preliminary launch plan for the mainnet is expected to be announced later in 2025.

Monad aims to be a high-throughput network, claiming to support 10,000 transactions per second and 1 second block time. It utilizes technologies such as parallel execution and has a custom database called MonadDb.

In addition, Monad is fully compatible with the Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM) bytecode, making it easier for developers familiar with Ethereum to migrate their applications.

Monad Labs is the development team of the blockchain, co-founded by former developers of Jump Trading. The company raised $225 million in a round of financing led by Paradigm.
