Metaplanet purchased $13.4 million worth of Bitcoin, increasing its holdings to 2391 BTC

Report from The Block: Japanese investment firm Metaplanet discloses its re-purchase of 156 BTC.

At the close of the Japanese stock market on Monday, the company's stock price rose by 21.15%, which is related to the broader rebound in the crypto market.

Metaplanet purchased additional BTC for about $13.4 million, demonstrating a positive outlook on the world's largest cryptocurrency.

The Tokyo-listed company purchased 156 BTC at a price of about 2 billion yen (approximately 13.4 million US dollars), with an average price of about 85,890 US dollars, CEO Mark X of Metaplanet wrote on X on Monday.

The company noted in a statement on Monday that the latest purchase of 156 BTC brought its total holdings to 2391, costing about 1.963 billion US dollars at an average price of $82,100 per BTC.

Since announcing its BTC acquisition strategy in April 2024, Metaplanet has been accelerating its purchase of BTC. Last week, the company disclosed the purchase of 135 BTC. In December last year, the company officially designated BTC treasury operations as its core business. Metaplanet has repeatedly stated its plan to hold 10,000 BTC by the end of 2025 and 21,000 BTC by the end of 2026.
