Gate News, March 22 — According to Bloomberg, the U.S. District Court in Missouri dismissed a sexual abuse lawsuit filed by Ann Altman, the sister of OpenAI CEO Sam Altman, on Friday. Judge Zachary Bluestone ruled that the claims were time-barred due to the statute of limitations. However, the judge also stated that Ann Altman may amend and refile the complaint.
Ann Altman’s lawyer, Ryan Mahoney, responded, “The court’s ruling only concerns procedural issues and does not affect the substantive allegations.” He added that the court has allowed the parties to submit a revised complaint, which they will complete as soon as possible, and they will continue with the evidence disclosure as planned. Sam Altman’s legal representatives declined to comment.
In January 2025, Ann Altman accused Sam Altman of abuse and manipulation during their upbringing in Missouri in the late 1990s to early 2000s. She claimed the abusive behavior began when she was 3 years old and continued until she was still a minor. Sam Altman issued a statement on behalf of himself, his mother, and his brother, calling the allegations “completely false.”
In March 2025, Sam Altman filed a defamation lawsuit against his sister, claiming her “false statements” damaged his reputation and caused emotional distress. His lawyer stated that the lawsuit was “an improper attempt to pressure him into providing unlimited financial support.” The judge also allowed Sam Altman to proceed with his defamation claim.
