Iran denies requesting the U.S. to delay airstrikes on energy facilities and has not yet given a final response to the U.S. ceasefire plan.

Gate News reports that on March 27, according to sources cited by The Wall Street Journal on the 26th, Iran denied that, as U.S. President Trump claimed, they “requested” the U.S. to delay airstrikes on Iran’s energy facilities by another 10 days, and they have not yet given a final response to the U.S. proposal to end the conflict with the “15-Point Plan.” The report states that Iranian officials have informed mediators that they are willing to negotiate, but the Iranian leadership has not yet made a statement or a final decision. Previously, Iranian officials explicitly demanded that the U.S. withdraw the “excessive demands” outlined in the “15-Point Plan,” otherwise they would not agree to meet to discuss a possible ceasefire. These officials also ruled out making Iran’s missile program a starting point for negotiations and refused to commit to permanently ending uranium enrichment activities. The mediators noted that the chances of reaching a ceasefire remain slim, as both Iran and the U.S. have made extreme demands that the other side cannot accept.
