Potential US Ground Attack, Iran Strengthens Kharg Island Defense

Iran has reportedly begun reinforcing defenses on Kharg Island in anticipation of potential ground attacks and seizure attempts by the United States military. Based on internal sources' reports to CNN, Tehran has now begun installing mines and additional air defense systems on the strategic island. This fortification step has become a top priority because Kharg Island processes approximately 90% of Iran's crude oil exports, which are crucial for the country's economic stability and the global energy market.

Tensions have intensified following Iran's attacks on various US military bases in the Middle East, which reportedly caused severe damage. According to NYT reports, many American troops were forced to work remotely or relocate to temporary locations such as hotels and office spaces. Iran has accused the US of using civilians as human shields by positioning its troops in public areas, and has urged the public to report these new locations to the Revolutionary Guards (IRGC).

On the other hand, recent political dynamics show a difference in strategy between the US and Israel. According to Axios reports, Donald Trump rejected Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's proposal to call for a popular uprising in Iran, concerned it would trigger unnecessary civilian bloodshed. Although fighter jet operations continue, US officials acknowledge that the level of damage to their military bases reflects a miscalculation in addressing the scale of Iran's attack.
