JUST IN: The European Commission confirmed a cyberattack that affected part of its cloud infrastructure, after hackers claimed to have stolen large volumes of data.

Although Brussels maintains that its internal systems were not compromised, the investigation remains open and it is still unclear what type of information was stolen.
