An interesting figure in the Musk family ecosystem is Kimbal Musk, who clearly lives in a different reality than his more famous brother. He noticed that a few days ago he spoke out against Trump on X, condemning tariff policy. Funny, because Elon himself seems to be in another camp. But it seems blood runs thicker — the brothers clearly respect each other despite their different political views.
Kimbal Musk is not just the brother of a well-known entrepreneur. The guy owns a fortune of about $700 million, mainly thanks to a small percentage of Tesla shares that he holds. But honestly, his fame comes not so much from money as from his environmental activism and charity. He always wears a cowboy hat — that’s his signature, a style you recognize right away.
The similarities with Elon are obvious: both were born in Pretoria, have the same square jaw, a straight nose, and green eyes. They both have South African, Canadian, and American citizenship. But their personalities are clearly different. If Elon is focused on space and electric vehicles, then Kimbal Musk is more involved in issues of food and sustainable development.
The family went through difficult times in childhood — he, Elon, and their younger sister Tosca (ей about 50) faced violence from their father, which led to their mother Maya’s divorce in 1979. After that, they moved to Canada, and then to the United States. It was there that both brothers launched Zip2 — a startup for business software for the internet. The project turned out to be successful: they sold it to Compaq in 1999 for $307 million.
So Kimbal Musk is not just a billionaire and Elon’s brother; he’s a person who took his own path, creating his own legacy in social entrepreneurship despite sharing his brother’s origin.
