Remember back in 2021, Facebook suddenly rebranded to Meta and the whole world started talking about the Metaverse. At that time, I also wondered what it was, but the more I researched, the more I saw it as a major breakthrough in technology.

The Metaverse is basically a digital space created through the Internet and technologies like AR and VR. Instead of just viewing content, you can actually step into it and interact as if in real life. That’s the key difference – from passive viewers to active participants.

What’s great about the metaverse ecosystem is that it allows everything to connect. From education, healthcare, sports to business, all can be integrated into a continuous virtual space. For example, NASA has used AR to control robots on the space station, or doctors use HoloLens to perform surgeries together from different locations.

But what’s most exciting are the gaming projects. Fortnite, for instance, has hosted virtual concerts with over 10 million people participating simultaneously. That number really shows the true potential of the metaverse ecosystem.

The Sandbox is another project I follow. They allow users to create, build, and buy and sell digital assets in the form of NFTs. The SAND token is currently around $0.08, with a 24-hour increase of 0.54%. The cool part is that you truly own what you create.

Decentraland is similar but runs on Ethereum. The MANA token is currently about $0.09, up 0.99% today. Here, you can build your own fully virtual economy.

Bit Country is another interesting project within the metaverse ecosystem. They enable anyone—from community managers and influencers to regular individuals—to create their own super universe. The special thing is, if you create assets, they remain there even if you’re no longer active. You can sell them on other NFT marketplaces.

Illuvium is the first AAA game on Ethereum that I’ve seen with real quality. They’ve built a complete 3D environment with over 100 unique creatures. The ILV token is currently at $3.75, down 1.78% today. This game combines elements of collection, trading, and combat.

REALY focuses on street culture, built on Unreal Engine 4. They host virtual exhibitions and concerts, helping creators release virtual products and earn money.

Star Atlas is a highly ambitious project. Built on Unreal Engine 5, it offers a high-quality cinematic gaming experience. The ATLAS token is currently at $0.00, up 0.06%. What’s unique is that Star Atlas combines multiple game genres at once—from exploring virtual worlds, fighting, staking, to forming alliances.

Overall, the metaverse ecosystem is still in its early stages but has enormous potential. These projects are gradually proving that it’s not just a theoretical concept but something that can build an active virtual world with its own economy and millions of participants. That’s why investors are paying so much attention to this field. If you haven’t followed these projects on Gate yet, now might be the time to start.
