Just read about this wild case - Glenda Rogan, an Australian financial advisor, got slapped with a 10-year ban by ASIC for running a crypto investment scam. Honestly, the numbers are insane - she managed to redirect at least $14.8 million from her clients, family, and friends between 2022 and 2023. Like, how does that even happen?

So here's what went down: Rogan was working for Fincare Group and representing some AFS-licensed firm, and she basically lied to people about what these crypto investments were, downplayed the risks, made up liquidity claims - the whole playbook. She convinced people to throw money at this fraudulent scheme and obviously people lost everything.

It's one of those stories that makes you realize how important it is to actually verify who you're giving your money to. Glenda Rogan's case is a pretty stark reminder that even if someone's officially licensed and working at a legit firm, things can still go sideways. ASIC came down hard on her though, so at least there's some accountability. Pretty rough situation for everyone who got caught up in it.
