Recently, I’ve been reviewing which are truly the best DeFi cryptocurrencies right now, and honestly, there are four projects leading the way in this space.
Let’s start with Avalanche. The interesting thing about AVAX is that it operates with three different blockchains (X-Chain, C-Chain, and P-Chain), but it still manages to process 6,500 transactions per second while maintaining decentralization. The AVAX token is used to secure the network, pay transaction fees, and act as a unit of account. Currently, it’s trading around $9.28 with a market capitalization of $4.01B. What makes Avalanche special is its focus on DApps, which is why it has gained so much traction in the DeFi ecosystem.
Next is Chainlink, which for me is one of those fundamental projects that many don’t value enough. LINK is basically the bridge between smart contracts and the real world. Launched in 2017, it functions as a decentralized data provider, allowing smart contracts to receive external information such as market prices, weather data, and more. Operator nodes use LINK as an incentive to provide reliable information. It’s currently trading at $8.95 with a market cap of $6.51B.
Uniswap deserves special attention because it revolutionized how we operate in DeFi. UNI is the governance token, meaning holders can vote on protocol decisions. The cool thing is that Uniswap eliminated the liquidity problem that previous DEXs had through its automated liquidity model. It’s now at $3.14 with a market cap of $1.99B, and remains one of the most solid decentralized exchanges.
Finally, Ethena represents something different but equally important. It focuses on creating a native crypto-backed dollar, offering a real alternative to traditional banking systems. Built on Ethereum, it aims to give users greater control over their assets through what they call the ‘Internet Bond’. Currently, ENA is at $0.08 with a market cap of $729.66M.
In conclusion, these four projects are truly the best DeFi cryptocurrencies to keep on your radar right now. Each one solves a specific problem in the ecosystem, from scalability to data access and governance. If you’re looking for exposure to DeFi, it’s definitely worth checking out these options on Gate.
