The Japanese Cabinet approved today an amendment to the Financial Instruments and Exchange Act, classifying cryptocurrencies alongside stocks and investment trusts as "financial instruments," ending the era where they were taxed as "miscellaneous income" at a maximum rate of 55%.


The accompanying 20% separate taxation bill has already been passed, covering approximately 105 tokens, including BTC and ETH.
