At 2 p.m. on March 4, the main hall of the Great Hall of the People welcomed the first “Committee Member Channel” of the Fourth Session of the 14th National Committee of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Conference. Nine CPPCC members entered one after another, sharing vivid stories and detailed data with reporters, showcasing China’s rapid development.

Over the past five years, our country’s total economic output has continuously reached new heights, surpassing 140 trillion yuan… On site, Guo Lanfeng, President of the China Economic System Reform Research Association, recounted China’s achievements in economic and social development during the “14th Five-Year Plan” period. He expressed deep feelings: the great rejuvenation of the Chinese nation is unstoppable.

People rely on food. Our grain production has stabilized at 1.4 trillion jin for two consecutive years. Huang Sanwen, President of the Chinese Academy of Agricultural Sciences, believes this is closely related to agricultural science and technology.

On site, Huang Sanwen introduced the technological achievements of the academy’s research teams over the years. Looking to the future, he said we must accelerate high-level agricultural science and technology independence and self-reliance, using more advanced and practical results to serve the “three rural issues” (agriculture, rural areas, farmers), and give stronger technological wings to the construction of a strong agricultural nation.

Technology is the primary productive force. Today, quantum technology is becoming an important force reshaping industrial patterns and national competitiveness.

After years of continuous efforts, China has achieved a series of breakthroughs in quantum technology. Pan Jianwei, Executive Vice President of the University of Science and Technology of China, shared insights gained during this process: core technologies cannot be bought or waited for. As long as we remain confident, innovate independently, and leverage the advantages of the new national system, we can turn “bottlenecks” into “pivots” for development.

During the “14th Five-Year Plan” period, China has built the world’s largest and fastest-growing renewable energy system, established the largest and most complete new energy industry chain, and maintained the world’s top production and sales of new energy vehicles, achieving leapfrog development in the new energy industry.

Zeng Yuqun, Chairman of CATL (Contemporary Amperex Technology Co., Limited), said that looking ahead, China will increase R&D investment, sell Chinese products worldwide, promote Chinese technology and standards globally, and work with international peers to continue contributing to the new energy sector.

Development achievements are blooming in many areas, and cultural events are thriving.

“Last year, ‘Super League’ was very popular: 2.43 million live spectators, over 2.2 billion online viewers, and topic views exceeding 1 trillion,” said Jiang Pengju, Vice Mayor of Changzhou, Jiangsu Province, using a series of figures to demonstrate the vibrant practice of promoting high-quality sports development.

Sports are driven by cultural empowerment; grand events are created through integrated innovation, and activities reflect the warmth of cities. Currently, “city leagues” across the country have become important platforms for building social consensus, empowering urban renewal, and serving a better life. “I believe the ‘city league’ in 2026 will be even more exciting!” Jiang Pengju said.

On site, Mu Yasaer Tohuti, President of Xinjiang Arts University, recalled the scene of celebrating the 70th anniversary of the founding of the Xinjiang Uygur Autonomous Region, still full of excitement.

“All ethnic groups in Xinjiang are members of the big Chinese family, connected by blood. On the fertile lands north and south of the Tianshan Mountains, pomegranate flowers will bloom more brightly, and the song of unity will be sung louder and louder!” she said.

Currently, ocean transportation demonstrates strong resilience and vitality.

“To develop the economy and strengthen the country, transportation, especially maritime shipping, must first become stronger,” said Li Ying, Professor at the Navigation College of Dalian Maritime University. Looking ahead, digital intelligence will empower shipping channels’ safety and resilience, and intelligent ships integrated with automation will help people enjoy smooth travel. “I believe our ocean corridors will get better and better.”

China has built the world’s largest 5G network, with more than 60% of global 5G base stations… The development of China’s information and communication industry is a vivid practice of building a modern industrial system.

Strengthening strategic emerging industries and future industries, deepening digital and intelligent technology to upgrade traditional industries… Looking toward the “14th Five-Year Plan,” Yang Jie, former Chairman of China Mobile Communications Group, said that advancing the modernization of the industrial system requires precise and coordinated efforts.

There is no difficulty in the world, only those who are willing to climb.

From 1960, when Chinese mountaineers first raised the Five-Star Red Flag on the world’s highest peak, to 2020, when China successfully measured Mount Everest at 8,848.86 meters, and now with more and more people reaching the summit, Wang Yongfeng, Vice Chairman of the China Mountaineering Association, believes this is supported by technological progress and national strength.

“Chinese-style modernization also requires a climbing spirit. As long as we uphold this spirit, set clear goals, stay grounded, and act with courage and determination, there will be no insurmountable peaks, and no dreams that cannot be realized,” he said.
