Baidu AI-generated false criminal information about others goes to court, Baidu's defense: It is AI hallucination, not intentional

In response to Baidu AI automatically generating false crime information, Beijing lawyer Huang Guigeng sued Beijing Baidu Netcom Science and Technology Co., Ltd. (hereinafter referred to as “Baidu”) for defamation and claimed damages of one million yuan. On February 6, the first trial was held at the Haidian District People’s Court in Beijing. Baidu’s defense stated that AI hallucinations are an unavoidable stage in product development, and Baidu does not constitute direct or indirect infringement. (The Paper)
