The press conference for the Fourth Session of the 14th National People’s Congress was held on March 8th at the News Center, inviting Wang Yi, Member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee and Foreign Minister, to answer questions from Chinese and foreign journalists regarding “China’s foreign policy and international relations.”

Wang Yi said that both China and the United States are major countries; neither can change each other, but they can change the way they interact. This means maintaining mutual respect, upholding the bottom line of peaceful coexistence, and striving for a win-win cooperation outlook. This approach aligns with the interests of both peoples and meets the expectations of the international community.

Wang Yi stated that the two heads of state lead by example, maintaining good communication at the highest levels, which provides an important strategic guarantee for the improvement and development of China-U.S. relations. It has also helped the relationship experience ups and downs while remaining generally stable. This year is a “big year” for China-U.S. relations, with high-level exchanges already on the agenda. What is needed now is for both sides to make thorough preparations, create a suitable environment, manage existing differences, and eliminate unnecessary interference.
