"踩刹车"? The U.S. government reportedly asks Israel to stop attacking Iranian energy facilities
Cailian Press, March 11 (Editor: Xia Junxiong) According to CCTV News, three informed sources revealed that the Trump administration in the United States has demanded Israel cease further airstrikes on Iran’s energy facilities, especially oil infrastructure.
This is the first time since the U.S. and Israel jointly launched military operations against Iran ten days ago that the Trump administration has restrained Israel’s military actions.
Previously, Israel’s attack on Tehran, the capital of Iran, caused the city of about 10 million people to be shrouded in toxic black smoke and acid rain, prompting emergency health warnings for ordinary Iranians.
An Israeli official stated that the relevant information from the U.S. side was conveyed at a high political level and directly communicated to IDF Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir.
According to informed sources, the Trump administration’s request is mainly for three reasons:
First, such attacks harm ordinary Iranians, some of whom are viewed by the Trump administration as opponents of the current Iranian regime.
Second, President Trump hopes to cooperate with Iran’s oil industry after the war, similar to his strategy toward Venezuela.
Third, such attacks could trigger large-scale retaliatory strikes by Iran against energy infrastructure in Gulf countries.
In the early stages of the conflict, Iran used drones to attack energy facilities in the Gulf region but did not cause serious or irreversible damage.
U.S. officials are concerned that further Israeli attacks on Iran’s oil facilities could alter Iran’s strategic calculations, escalate the situation, and further drive up oil prices.
Sources say that Trump views attacking Iran’s energy and oil facilities as a “doomsday option,” to be used only if Iran deliberately attacks Gulf oil facilities first.
Trump publicly expressed this stance on Monday, posting on his self-created social media platform Truth Social that if Iran blocks oil passage through the Strait of Hormuz, it will face a “20-fold severe” retaliation.
On Tuesday morning, U.S. Secretary of Defense Lloyd Austin attempted to distance the U.S. government from Israel’s attack on Iran’s fuel depots during a media interview, stating that the U.S. did not target such facilities.
