Middle East situation pushes up oil prices, experts: Japanese government should reduce dependence on oil
Due to the ongoing impact of the military conflicts between the United States, Israel, and Iran, international oil prices have experienced fluctuations. Japanese experts believe that as the Strait of Hormuz, a key chokepoint for Middle Eastern oil transportation, encounters disruptions, Japan will face related challenges. The Japanese government should learn from the current situation and reduce dependence on oil. Professor Marukawa Tomo from the Institute of Social Sciences at the University of Tokyo stated that the Japanese government is attempting to curb the impact of rising oil prices through subsidies and other measures, but this approach could potentially worsen the problem. At the same time, Japan should more vigorously develop electric vehicles and renewable energy sectors to decrease reliance on oil fuels. (CCTV News)
