NEAR just unlocked a major flex: it's now the first non-EVM blockchain fully playable on MetaMask. Here's what changed:
Through NEAR Snap (built by HERE Wallet), you can now spin up a NEAR wallet directly inside MetaMask, sign transactions, and interact with the protocol—no bridge needed. Before this, only Aurora (NEAR's EVM layer) had MetaMask support.
Why it matters: This opens the door for millions of MetaMask users to access NEAR without extra steps. The dev side is even more interesting—builders are working on BOS components that'll make wallet functionality work across different gateways, not just NEAR Snap.
