Just saw this wild update on the OneCoin saga - Konstantin Ignatov got released from prison back in March after serving his full 34-month sentence. The guy was basically running the whole $4 billion fraud operation after his sister Ruja disappeared in 2017, and apparently he'd already done his time before the sentencing even happened.
What's crazy is Konstantin initially worked as her personal assistant when OneCoin was booming, then took over as the de facto leader after she vanished. The dude even lied on the witness stand about ditching his laptop in Vegas, but the judge decided that wasn't enough to throw out his guilty plea.
Meanwhile, other people involved in this mess are still facing serious time - Mark Scott (OneCoin's lawyer) got 10 years for laundering $400 million, and Karl Sebastian Greenwood, one of the co-founders, is doing 20 years. Irina Dilkinska, their legal compliance person, just pleaded guilty too and could get up to 10 years.
The craziest part? Ruja Ignatova, the original Cryptoqueen who started this whole thing, is still missing since 2017. She's on the FBI's most wanted list, and there are rumors a drug lord might've killed her back in 2018. Konstantin Ignatov's release basically closes another chapter on this insane fraud case.
