Cloudflare expands into the integrated AI payment sector, partnering with Visa, Mastercard, and American Express to develop “agentic commerce” — where AI agents autonomously shop and pay on behalf of humans. On October 14, the company launched the Trusted Agent Protocol with Visa, allowing the authentication of AI shopping bots through the Web Bot Auth standard. Mastercard and AmEx are also implementing similar solutions.
This move is part of Cloudflare's strategy to build infrastructure for machine-to-machine payments. The company recently announced the NET Dollar stablecoin and partnered with Coinbase to establish the x402 Foundation to standardize AI payments.
Tether CEO Paolo Ardoino predicts that “one trillion AI agents” will use Bitcoin and USDT in the next 15 years. Cloudflare expects to lead this automated commerce trend with the participation of partners like Microsoft, Circle, Shopify, and Worldpay.
