Ethereum staking sentiment reversal: ETH enters queue for the first time surpassing exits, validators' confidence warms up

ETH2,35%

Ethereum staking data shows a key turning point. The latest on-chain data indicates that for the first time in six months, “staking inflows exceed outflows,” suggesting that by the end of 2025, Ethereum validators’ confidence in the network and price outlook has significantly rebounded.

Currently, approximately 745,619 ETH are in the staking queue, with an estimated wait time of nearly 13 days; while the exit queue holds about 360,518 ETH, with an estimated wait time of around 8 days. Compared to previous months when outflows consistently exceeded new staking, this structural reversal is seen as an important sentiment signal.

This change occurred over the weekend, when the inflow and outflow queues both approached 460,000 ETH at one point. Subsequently, new staking rapidly increased, and several analysts believe that if this trend continues, validator exit queues could approach zero in the short term, significantly easing potential selling pressure on Ethereum.

Abdul, head of DeFi at the first-layer blockchain Monad, pointed out that a similar staking reversal occurred in June this year, when ETH prices rose from about $2,800 to nearly $5,000 by the end of August. Currently, Ethereum’s price remains around $3,000, and the market is reassessing how staking behavior impacts supply and demand dynamics.

Under the Proof of Stake (PoS) mechanism, staking ETH means locking up circulating supply to secure the network. Therefore, increased staking is usually interpreted as a long-term bullish signal, while accelerated withdrawals often correspond to potential selling pressure. Abdul believes that since 2025, the outflow queue has been a leading indicator of selling pressure, with about 5% of the total ETH supply circulating since July.

It is noteworthy that participation by large institutions is amplifying this trend. On-chain data shows that BitMine has staked over 342,000 ETH in a short period, worth approximately $1 billion. Additionally, the market generally believes that upcoming upgrades like Pectra, staking threshold optimizations, and DeFi de-leveraging are all important factors driving a surge in Ethereum staking inflows.
