Anthropic founder's internal statement: The tension with Trump is because of not donating; OpenAI has donated.

Odaily Planet Daily reports that journalist Stephanie Palazzolo from The Information posted on X, sharing internal notes from Anthropic founder Dario Amodei.

Dario stated internally that the reason for the tense relationship between Anthropic and the Trump administration is that Anthropic refuses to curry favor with the current government — “The real reason is that we haven’t donated to Trump… We haven’t praised Trump in a dictatorial manner (unlike Sam Altman); we support AI regulation, which conflicts with their agenda; we have been honest on many AI policy issues (such as job displacement); we have truly stuck to our principles rather than colluding to create so-called safety shows to appease employees.”

Stephanie commented that Dario’s mention of donations was likely a reference to OpenAI CEO Greg Brockman donating $25 million to Trump.
