There’s no chance they’ll “re open” the strait in the coming days
Every week it stays “closed” is another week of revenue. Why would they stop?

‘Some shipments are coming, so we’re safe!’
Think again
Here’s the situation —
petrol is at $2.44/L, rural stations are dry, 53 ships en route buys maybe 2 weeks of cover.
Mid to late April:
The cargo wave lands and we get momentary relief. But the drawdown starts the moment that cargo clears.
April into May:
This is the supply cliff. That’s when mining (which burns 40% of Australia’s diesel) goes up against the food supply chain.
Mid May:
Sub 15 day diesel. Freight chains start failing. Groceries follow
Late May - June:
Full rationing territory, assuming large tankers stay sh

Iran tripled its oil export rate in the 2 weeks before the strikes.
They frontloaded every barrel they could get through Hormuz before it closed. Those ships are still at sea.
A VLCC runs at 12–15 knots fully loaded.
Once it clears the strait, the war is someone else’s problem.
Transit times from the Gulf:
🇮🇳 India: 5–7 days
🇯🇵 Japan / South Korea: 20 days
🇨🇳 China: 22–25 days
🇪🇺 Europe via Suez: 19 days, via Cape: 35 days
🇺🇸 US Gulf Coast: 25–49 days depending on route
🇦🇺 Australia: imports refined fuel from Asian refineries that import crude

This is worrying
5 of the biggest names in finance - BlackRock, Blue Owl, Morgan Stanley, Apollo, Ares
- have restricted withdrawals from their private credit funds. Investors are trying to pull out billions .
The 5% quarterly withdrawal cap is standard.
What isn’t standard is Blue Owl seeing 40% of one fund’s investors trying to leave at once; or BlackRock receiving 9.3% in withdrawal requests in a single quarter and paying out half; or Blue Owl skipping the cap entirely and issuing IOUs.
The underlying problem is a $2.1 trillion market that lent heavily to software companies now being dis

The memecoin cycle has fully collapsed into a 24-48 hour lifespan.
A token launches, insiders have bundled +90% supply, team farms all of the buys, by the time it trends on X it’s already over.
Coins that used to go to hundreds of millions marketcap don’t even hit $10 million mc anymore, and the window to buy is so small that by the time you’ve noticed it you’re catching a falling knife.
The things I would do to wake up in 2021 again.

China supplies 32% of Australia’s jet fuel and has restricted exports. South Korea supplies another 18%, but its airlines are now pushing the government to redirect those exports domestically too.
Half of Australia’s aviation fuel supply is under threat. Sydney Airport moves 9 million litres a day with every drop imported since its last refinery closed in 2014.
Jet fuel prices are up 150% since the war started. Air New Zealand has already cut 1,100 flights. Sydney Airport says there are no assurances on next week’s scheduled shipments.

Japan holds over 200 days of oil reserves.
Australia holds less than 30.
Japan is an island nation with no oil.
Australia is one of the world’s largest exporters.
Guess which one is running out?
