Last night, while eating late-night snacks and watching the mempool, during congestion, your transaction actually looked a lot like waiting in line at a cafeteria: first thrown into a bunch of "waiting to be served" baskets, miners/block proposers pick the ones with higher tips first, if you pay less, it just keeps getting pushed back, and as it gets pushed back, it might even be cut in line by other transactions doing the same thing (especially if you're swapping or opening perpetual contracts, which are easy to monitor). What's more annoying is you think once you click confirm, it's done, but it might get stuck for a while, and in the end, you either have to pay more to resend, or just let it expire and fail, wasting gas, and the slippage gets even uglier. Recently, new L1/L2 incentives to boost TVL have caused chain congestion, and old users complain "mining, selling," which I can understand: you queue up until your patience runs out, and once they take their funds out, you leave. Anyway, I now prefer to make fewer moves, and if I do move, leave some extra margin... Forget it, no more messing around.
